Celebrities compete in MSV F4 cars at Bedford to be ITV Drive Champion

Tuesday, May 03 2016

Five celebrities will race MSV's F4 cars at Bedford Autodrome in the final of ITV's Drive competition, which can be seen on ITV1 at 9pm tonight (Tuesday).

The ITV show has challenged celebrities to a series of driving and racing challenges. Coached by double British Touring Car Champion Jason Plato, the stars have had to negotiate their way through a variety of motorsport disciplines including banger racing and rallycross in order to qualify for the final.

In the opening rounds, singer Ella Eyre, music impresario Louis Walsh, presenter Mariella Frostrup and weathergirl Laura Tobin have all been knocked out of the competition. However they'll take part in a wildcard race tonight in the hope of a last chance reprieve to make the final.

DriveThe winner of the wildcard race will join rapper Professor Green, comedian Johnny Vegas, former athlete Colin Jackson and presenter Angus Deayton, all of whom qualified for tonight's final. They'll take part in the race at Bedford Autodrome, using the same cars that were used in the BRDC Formula 4 Championship as recently as last September.

Plato said: "It's been an interesting process to try and get them out of their comfort zone [in] all different sorts of competitive competitions, culminating in racing four BRDC Formula 4 cars around Bedford Autodrome in a proper race. It's epic!"

The winner will be crowned Drive Champion, but you don't have to be a celebrity to experience the F4 car, as they are now available to drive at Brands Hatch with MSV's RaceMaster experience for just £229. For more information or to book call 0843 453 9000 or click here.
