PalmerSport instructor Philpot bids for Race of Champions glory

Wednesday, November 11 2015

PalmerSport instructor Bradley Philpot has been offered a golden opportunity to compare himself to the biggest names in motorsport at the Race of Champions, which will be held at the Olympic Stadium in London on 20-21 November.

Bradley will face-off against fellow wild card entrant Des Foley in a shoot out on Thursday 19 November, with the winner going on to compete against drivers including Jenson Button, Sebastian Vettel, and Daniel Ricciardo in the ROC Skills Challenge presented by TAG Heuer.

Philpot has earned his opportunity after a new ROC Factor competition, in which he and nine other selected finalists were put forward to a public vote and judging panel for consideration. He claimed the top spot in the public vote with 28% and was successfully nominated for the final stage of the process.

The ROC Skills Challenge is a unique trial which has been designed to test as many driver skills as possible. Challenges Bradley can be expected to face will include close-quarters cornering, 360° turns, and precision parallel parking. Bradley has plenty of experience behind the wheel of nimble lightweight cars from his time as an instructor so don't be surprised if he claims a major scalp or two, should he progress to the main competition.

In addition to his role as an instructor Bradley has finished on the podium at the Nürburgring 24 Hours, raced as an official factory-backed driver for Peugeot, claimed championships in both cars and karts, and won the British 24 Hour Kart Enduro at Teesside Autodrome in August.

Philpot commented: "My time as an instructor for MSV at Bedford Autodrome working on the Palmersport event has been the prefect training ground for the Race of Champions! Experience in such a wide range of racing cars, including specifically the Caterham Pursuit due to its tight, twisty and slippery configurations, has prepared me well.

"I'm looking forward to the shoot out on Thursday the 19th and I'm confident that I will make MSV proud!"
