10 things to look forward to in 2015

Thursday, January 01 2015

Happy New Year from all of us at MSV! The new season isn't far away, and we've picked out ten things to look forward to, which will make 2015 a year to remember.

1. Brands Hatch Half Marathon
Start the 2015 season on the track by taking part in the British Heart Foundation's Brands Hatch Half Marathon and 10K event on Sunday 1 March. You'll be part of a huge sporting event with full support, including training guidance, fundraising support, timing and medical support. Not only will all finishers be awarded a medal, you'll be raising cash for a great charity too.

2. British Touring Car Championship
The BTCC is enjoying a golden age and 2015 is expected to continue this trend, and there are many reasons why it should be another to savour. MG is expected to have an all-new line-up, whilst Sam Tordoff has joined WSR, who have yet to confirm whether reigning champion Colin Turkington will be on their driving squad. Lots of announcements are expected in the new year, for what should be another vintage year, kicking off at Brands Hatch at Easter, before visits to Oulton Park in June, Snetterton in August and the big finale on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit in October.

3. British GT/BRDC Formula 4
The British GT Championship also gets underway over Easter weekend, with the popular Oulton Park round. It's another championship that is in rude health and this year co-headlines with the BRDC Formula 4 Championship, Britain's leading single-seater championship. Watch the stars of the future and the amazing sights and sounds of supercars, with further rounds at Brands Hatch and Snetterton later in the season.

4. MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship
After taking a record fourth MCE BSB title, Shakey Byrne has signed up with just one goal: a fifth championship. He's been a force to be reckoned with ever since he returned to the championship in 2011, finishing in the top three every year and taking two of his four titles. But as Tommy Hill and Alex Lowes have proved, he's not unbeatable, so expect another season of ultra-close action from British motorsport's most exciting championship. Rounds take place at Brands Hatch in April, July and October; Oulton Park in May and September; Snetterton in June and Cadwell Park in August.

5. British Truck Racing Championship
The British Truck Racing Championship may not share the profile of MCE BSB or the BTCC, but it's one of the most popular events on our calendar and it's not hard to see why. The big brutes of motorsport are spectacular to watch as they powerslide out of corners and duel at up to 100 mph. The events at Brands Hatch in April and Snetterton in September are full of family fun both on and off-track, and the championship finale at Brands Hatch in November includes a huge fireworks display.

6. Blancpain GT Series
The Blancpain GT Series brought top-line international GT racing back to Brands Hatch when it debuted at the circuit last year, and also provided a highlight of the season. The cars are stunning, both to look at and to hear, with a symphony of cylinders accompanying scintillating racing action on the Grand Prix circuit. Amongst the field of Audis, Lamborghinis, McLarens, Mercedes and Porsches was the BMW of Alex Zanardi, who starred on his racing comeback, and he's aiming to be back for more this May.

7. Masters Historic Festival
The Masters Historic Festival has established itself as a must-see on the historic racing calendar. Formula 1 action has also featured on the bill, and the FIA Masters Historic Formula 1 Championship headlines the action. In 2015 it will be joined by the Super Touring Car Championship, and with the FIA Masters Historic Sportscar Championship also starring, there's no excuse not to be there this May.

8. American SpeedFest III
If you haven't seen NASCAR racing at Brands Hatch then this is the first event that you need to book - and if you hurry you can still take advantage of our free grandstand seat and grid walk offer. The NASCAR Whelen Euro Series is every bit as frantic as its illustrious stateside equivalent and the Brands Hatch Indy circuit combines the best features of oval and road circuits. Add in a plethora of US-themed fun, including V8s, hot rods, monster trucks, food and entertainment, and y'all be coming back for more!

9. Oulton Park Gold Cup
The Gold Cup is synonymous with Oulton Park, and the north-west's premier historic racing event fills the August Bank Holiday weekend with nostalgic fun, from the classic duels recreated on the track to the lovingly-maintained cars filling the infield. The Gold Cup is already marked out on many calendars, make sure it is on yours.

10. Trackdays and driving experiences
You don't just have to watch the action - unlike many sports you can try out a famous racing venue for yourself. From our adrenaline-fuelled driving experiences to trackdays, make sure you're a part of the action in 2015.
