New London ePrix to be organised by MSVR

Thursday, February 19 2015

MotorSport Vision Racing (MSVR), the event organising division of MSV, has been appointed as the sporting club responsible for the London ePrix in Battersea Park, the season finale of the all-electric FIA Formula E Championship, on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 June 2015. Subject to final FIA homologation, this groundbreaking new event will see cars race on a specially created, 1.8-mile, 15-turn circuit which yesterday received planning approval from Wandsworth Council.

Welcomed by Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, as "a superb addition to London's sporting calendar," the London ePrix will feature two races for electrically-powered, zero-emission Formula E single-seaters, one on the Saturday and another on the Sunday. It is the only double header event during the 11-race series, which is visiting eight nations during its inaugural 2014/2015 season.

MSVR's sporting responsibilities will include the provision of national event officials, technical scrutineers, medical and fire cover, pit and track marshals, and a results team. MSVR will also organise provision of emergency vehicles, recovery vehicles, and two electric course cars.

MSVR will manage 22 car racing championships and series in the UK during 2015, and more than 50 car and bike racing events. These include the UK's premier single-seater series, the Duo BRDC Formula 4 Championship; Britain's most popular motor sport series, the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship; all track activity for Chris Evans' CarFest North and CarFest South events, raising money for Children In Need; and events such as American SpeedFest at Brands Hatch and the new Cadwell Park International Classic for motorcycles.

David Scott, Race Operations Manager of MSVR, said: "Being appointed to organise such an historic new event for a global championship is something we're really excited about. We're looking forward to the unique challenge of the inaugural London ePrix, which adds to MSVR's diverse portfolio of events of world, British and club status on two and four wheels."

As the next step towards the London ePrix, the Battersea Park circuit layout must obtain FIA approval and track homologation.
